Models Own - HyperGels - Stamping

Way back when I first took delivery of the HyperGels I said that I was hoping they might stamp well, so I finally got around to try a few out and it turns out... they do!

I tested out 4 colours; Blue Glint, Coral Glaze, Turquoise Gloss and Cornflower Gleam.  The darker shades work really well but even the paler shade Cornflower Gleam holds it's own pretty well if you're looking for a subtle effect.

The texture of these polishes is great for stamping, thick and a bit gloopy means that they spread over the stamping plate well and go onto the nail pretty opaque.

The colours come out bright and bold on the most part and look really effective.  I think the other darker shades like the pink and red would also work well.  The nude, pale pink and lilac probably not so much so but like Cornflower gleam they would probably be good for a more subtle effect.

Overall I'm pretty pleased with how these work for stamping, it's hard to say without a side by side comparison but I think they might be a touch brighter and more opaque than some of the Barry M Gelly Hi-Shines which are favourites of mine for stamping with.

I feel a little comparison post coming on in the future...

Bundle Monster H18 Stamping

I used a plate from Bundle Monster's Holiday Collection for this manicure, H18 which is a love / Valentine's sort of theme, I just used it because I liked the pretty pattern.

I use Barry M Gelly Hi Shine in Blueberry, a dark blue colour, for the stamping over yesterday's Coloured Speckled manicure and I'm really pleased with how it turned out, the glittery base adds a little extra to the overall look I think.

I really like the Holiday Collection from Bundle Monster, despite being themed around certain holidays or events there are tonnes of designs which can be used whenever and aren't just tied into a holiday or event making it a useful set even if you aren't big on tying your manicures to life events.

Double Stamping

This manicure didn't quite turn out how I was hoping, and I've cleverly forgotten to take a note of which stamping plates I used so it's not going to be the most useful of blog posts ever. :)

They're both from the Bundle Monster Create Your Own collection and the polish I used to stamp is a pink to purple Chameleon polish from Barry M and Gold Foil, also Barry M.

Unfortunately these pictures have highlighted the tip wear quite badly, it wasn't noticeable in person but it certainly is in the pictures so apologies for that.

More Snowflakes

First of all, apologies for the lack of posts recently.  I have been doing daily posts for over a year now but I'm struggling to keep up with that at the moment and trying to is rather sucking the joy out of the whole experience.

I don't make any profit from blogging and I'm not one of those bloggers lucky enough to be sent loads of goodies to compensate for the hours it takes to post daily, so for the foreseeable future I am going to be dropping down to posting every second day that way I should easily be able to keep on top of the posts and still enjoy doing it rather than it seeming like a chore.

Anyway, on to the nails!

I used a base of Kiko, a light blue shade I can't currently remember the number of, and then over the top I added a holographic glitter top coat and a layer of Nubar Polka Dots in white to give a sparkly snow sort effect to the base.

Then I added snowflake stamps using a variety of stamping plates and Barry M Silver Foil nail polish, some of them single snowflakes and others a full nail design to give a bit of variety.

Here's a quick picture of the plates:

Create Your Own Textured Stamping

Another stamping manicure using the Bundle Monster Create Your Own set today.

I used Barry M Silver Foil Effects to stamp over Kiko Starry Black textured polish.

I'm not sure this was the best choice of image for over a textured polish as the trees lose a bit of their clarity, something more abstract might work better.  Nonetheless I quite like the effect, from a distance it looks a bit like crackle polish.

I used plate 407.

Textured Stamping

I was a bit sceptical about stamping over textured polishes at first but it actually works really well, for today's manicure I used BM-422 from the Create Your Own Collection.

I used Barry M Gold Foil for the stamping and I'm really pleased with how it turned out.

The simple hexagon design compliments to base colour and the textured adds an extra element to the stamping which makes it a bit different.

I'm also really pleased with the wear time on the Barry M textured polish, I'm on day three now and there is only the smallest amount of tip wear which for a textured polish and no topcoat I think is great.

Funny Bones

More Halloween nails today, this time a skeleton theme...

I used a white nail pen to stamp with as I find it gives the most opaque white colour for stamping.

I used two different plates, both of which I purchased from Bunny Nails, you can read about them HERE.

Here's a close up of the plates I used:

I'm pretty impressed with these plates and how well they stamp my one issue is that the images are quite big for my nails, my nails are particularly short at the moment but even if they were a bit wider I would struggle to fit a lot of them on.  If you don't have tiny dinky nails they're fab though.

Octonails!

This manicure is shamelessly copied from a picture I saw on FB, which I now can't find to give credit to, so sorry!  If it was you or you know who did the original design then let me know in the comments.

I decided to stamp over yesterday's Amethyst Velvet Goth polish and I was keen to try out a plate from the new Bundle Monster collection so having seen this cute design elsewhere I decided to copy.

Octopus nails!  I used two images from Bundle Monster plate BM 401.  A full octopus design and another tentacle design to give the impression the octopus was all over my nails.

It's just as well that there was a separate tentacle design because the full octopus was WAY too big to fit on my nails, despite that I'm pretty pleased with how this turned out

I think the tentacles would also be great for a Halloween style manicure too so I might try that out soon since we're getting to that time of year.

Barry M & Bundle Monster - Stamping Stars!

I decided to use Barry M Blue Plum to stamp over yesterday's Sally Hansen polish, I'm not hugely impressed with how this turned out because I don't think the colours go that well but I do love how well the Barry M Gelly polishes stamp, look at the colour pay off!

I used another plate from the Bundle Monster Holiday Collection, this time the roses came from plate BM-H16, I think this image could look really delicate and pretty just not in blue. :)

The blue shades just don't quite work for me so I didn't have this manicure on for too long, it was however further proof of what an excellent stamping combination Bundle Monster and Barry M are!

Tone on Tone Stamping.

One of the nail groups I'm a member of on Facebook had a recent stamping challenge which involved tone on tone stamping, although I was too late to actually join in I still fancied giving it a go and here are the results of my effort.

I used Kiko Mirror Nail Lacquer in 619, Red Peony, to stamp over Kiko 288 from the other day.  Although the name suggests it's a red polish I would say it is very definitely pink.

I'm pleased with how this turned out, it's pretty subtle and probably not really noticeable in person unless you look closely but I like the fact that I can still have a stamped manicure without it being really obvious and in your face.

Helpfully I can't remember which plate I used for the image but if anyone has a burning desire to know leave a comment and I will go and dig it out and post the number for you. :)

Glitter Stamps

I decided to jazz up the very neutral Kiko polish from the other day by adding Nubar Sky Sparkle as an accent nail and Barry M Guava for some stamping.  The plate I used is Gals GA4.

Aside from the very annoying tip wear / shrinkage on Sky Sparkle I'm pretty pleased with how this turned out.  The glittery accent nail adds a bit more interest to the geometric stamping image.

Guava stamped beautifully and turned out a lot bolder and brighter than I was expecting over the creamy nude base.

I used the left hand image from GA4 plate.

Golden Nude Stamping

I decided to stamp over yesterday's Nude Beige polish, for the stamping I used Barry M Foil Effects in Gold, it gave a subtle stamped effect over the nude base.

I used Cheeky plate ch44, a nail polish themed design.

I'm quite pleased with the effect of the two colours but less pleased with the horrible mess of the stamping, as you can see the images came out rather blurry.  It looked fine in person but macro photography is not a messy stamps friend!

Yummy, yummy, yummy!

I has lunch with some friends the other day in Wagamama, I decided that a nice food themed stamp would be ideal for my manicure...

I used Barry M Gelly Hi Shine in Watermelon to do the stamping.

The plate is CH42 by Cheeky.

Subtle Wedding Style Stamping

I said the Spa Ritual polish, Optimistic, which I had on the other day was a perfect base colour for some nail art so I couldn't resist stamping over the top of it.

I decided to try something delicate and sophisticated over the cream base, something which might be appropriate for a wedding day maybe, so I used Barry M Gold Foil Effect and a delicate scroll stamp to create the subtle, delicate look.

I'm pleased with how this turned out, it looks so pretty on my nails and was definitely more subtle than some of the stamping manicures I've done in the past but still had an added bit of interest over plain nails.

As pretty as this is if I ever get married I think I'd be going for something a bit more blingy and glittery and a bit less traditional colour-wise for my nails. ;)

Stamping with Kiko 621 Violetta

Another stamping manicure today using Kiko Mirror Nail Lacquer (621 Violetta), I love stamping with these polishes they just work so perfectly.

I chose a lilac / violet colour to go over yesterday's Warwick Street.

I think it adds a nice extra layer of depth to the fine sprinkles.

Another 4th of July theme manicure.

I was quite pleased with last years 4th of July manicure so I decided to give it another go this year, however I wanted to try and create a flag design on each nail rather than spread it across my hand like I'd done previously, and so this version was born...

This years attempt was a little bit more complicated than the simple stamping I did last year.

First off I started with a white base then I used sellotape to mark off a portion of my nails which I stamped with Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine in Blood Orange to create the stripes, after that had dried I applied the tape again, this time covering the stripes and leaving the white area clear to paint with Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine in Blue Grape, on top of that I stamped white stars.  Then I removed the tape and added a topcoat to smooth out the joins.  Both of the plates I used for the stars and stripes are from the latest Cheeky collection of plates.

Aside from the small issue I had on my pinkie (we'll gloss over the lines not matching up, shall we?) I think these turned out pretty well, it's definitely obvious what they are meant to be and I've had lots of compliments already which is always nice.

Do you have any 4th related nail plans?
