Dainty Doll Cream Blushers - Update

I posted about these cream blushers previously HERE but I thought I should do an update post since I have been using them for a while now and loving them.

They are by far the best cream blushers I have tried; the formula, colour and wear time are all excellent.  There are three shades

My favourite by far is Orange County Girl, it's absolutely beautiful on the skin, a soft shimmery peach which looks very natural but also leaves a lovely flush on your skin.  I have been wearing it LOADS.  It's shimmery without being too over the top and the soft peach shade is just gorgeous.

Paper Roses is a soft pink, it's the perfect no blusher blusher, by which I mean I apply it when I don't want to have an obvious blusher on, it adds a soft flush to my cheeks which looks natural and healthy without looking like I am wearing anything.

Billion Dollar Babies is the one which I have used least, it's more of a bronzer type shade which isn't something I have ever used much, it's an ideal introduction to bronzer though, great for paler skin tones and not at all orange.

By far the most impressive thing about these blushers is how well they suit my pale skin tone, I often find blusher can have a bit of a clown like effect on my pale skin and so although I often buy brighter shades I struggle to know quite how to wear them, these blushers are the exact opposite, they are so easy to throw on and every colour looks natural and lovely on my skin.

Application is great too, the formula is so smooth and soft and seems to blend from a cream into a more powdery finish as you blend it onto your skin, they couldn't be simpler to apply and I just use my fingers to throw them on, no need to worry about blending brushes or the like.  They last well too, even after a full 8 hour day at work I can still see the colour on my cheeks which is a massive improvement from a lot of other cream blushers I have tried.

So, in short, I LOVE these, if you can possibly get your hands on one or more then I definitely recommend you do!  They seem to be sold out on Fragrance Direct where I bought them but a bit of searching shows they are still available elsewhere online.  I highly recommend checking them out if you are pale skinned and unsure about cream blushers, they will most probably change your mind.

Dainty Doll - Nicola Roberts - Blushers Part 2 - Powders

This is second part of a two part post on some Dainty Doll blushers I picked up from Fragrance Direct recently. The blushers were only £1.99 each which is a huge saving on the £13.50 RRP.

This post is about the cream blushes, of which there are 4.

The colours are Happy Shake (001), My Girl (002), Money Talks (003) and You Are My Sunshine (004).  I've cleverly managed to swap the last two in the first picture, just to confuse matters.

Happy Shake is a very pale pink, this one is definitely more of a highlight for me than a blush but it leave a lovely soft pink sheen on the skin. My Girl is a bright rose pink.

Money Talks is more of a bronzer than a blusher, it's a soft taupe tan colour and I'm really looking forward to trying it out, I've always been a bit scared of bronzer but this one is nice and light so I'm hoping it will suit my colouring.

You Are My Sunshine (004) is a peachy coral with a golden shimmer through it, again this one reminds me a bit of Nars Orgasm.

Here are some quick swatches:

Again they go on beautifully, really soft and easy to apply and the colours are perfectly suited to my, rather pale, skin.  At £1.99 you really can't go wrong with these if you're in the market for a new blusher.

Dainty Doll - Nicola Roberts - Blushers Part 1 - Creams

This is the first of a two part post on some Dainty Doll blushers I picked up from Fragrance Direct recently.  The blushers were only £1.99 each which is a huge saving on the £13.50 RRP.

Today I have the cream blushes to show you, there are three shades

Paper Roses (001), Orange County Girl (002) & Billion Dollar Babies (003)

Paper roses is a soft rose pink colour, Orange County Girl is a coral / peach shade with a subtle shimmer to it (to me it seems a bit like a cream version of Nars Orgasm, maybe a touch more peach) and Billion Dollar Babies is a light taupe sort of colour, this one is almost like a cream bronzer rather than a blush.  There are some rather poor swatches below:

The blushers apply beautifully, they are silky soft and so easy to blend.  They leave a lovely natural flush of colour on the cheeks and all three seem to suit my skin tone nicely.  Maybe there is something to be said for make up for paler skins after all!

At £1.99 these are an absolute steal, if you're in the market for a cream blusher, or if you've never tried one before and want to do so without splashing lots of cash then these are for you.

Fragrance Direct charge £1.99 for second class postage which is a pretty good deal and mine arrived within a couple of days, quicker than I expected.

MUA Blush Perfection - Bittersweet

Today I have a blusher review for you, another scheduled post I've set up while I'm off spending Christmas with my nearest and dearest.

Fairly recently MUA (available at Superdrug) started doing cream blush, as with all their products it's available at a truly bargain price, just £2!  I have quite a few cream blushes and I like wearing them so I couldn't pass up on the chance to try out another shade at such a low price.

I chose Shade 1 Bittersweet which is a soft pink shade.

The blush is a nice soft texture and applies well, it's easy to blend; either with your finger or with a buffing brush and lasts pretty well for a high street product at such a low price.
I did find initially that there seemed to be a bit of a clear film on the top of the blusher when I bought it, I'm not sure what it was, maybe something added in production to protect it, but I had previously read about it on another blog so I was half expecting it.  After a quick sweep over with a tissue the film disappear and you are left with the pigmented blusher underneath.
The colour is great, a soft subtle pink which can be built up to give a brighter more vivid look or lightly swept on the give a natural flush.
Overall, I am really pleased with this blush, it's a great bargain every day blusher and having used it quite a few times now I am definitely tempted to try out the others in the collection.

W7 Candy Floss

I thought I would do a quick review of this product today as I absolutely love it and use it almost every day, it's such a firm favourite that I currently have a back up and another one on the way.
Candy Floss by W7 is touted online as a very reasonable dupe to Benefit's Dandelion, and I can't say that I disagree with that assessment.  It's has similar soft pink shimmer which makes your complexion look brighter on application and the similarities in the packaging and brush are hard to miss.
The major difference is definitely in the price, Dandelion sells for £22.50 whereas Candy Floss is available in a variety of places online for around £3, or even cheaper if you want to pay P&P on top, although they generally all work out at much the same price.

I love how this blush applies, it's soft and smooth to apply.  The brush is another nice surprise for such a budget cosmetic; it's super soft, feels nice on your face and doesn't shed hair everywhere, more than can be said for a lot of more expensive brushes!

Until recently I didn't wear blush at all except on very rare occasions but I've been trying to branch out a bit more and now use it most days.  Despite having quite a large selection to choose from I find it hard to go past Candy Floss when I'm doing my face in the morning.

The colour you get from it is a soft, subtle pink - it's very hard to go overboard with this blush unless you are REALLY trowelling it on which is another selling point for me, too much blusher always makes me feel like a clown - it adds a gentle, natural flush to the cheeks along with a hint of shimmer.

The shimmer is very subtle, more a soft glow than a full on disco ball.  It's perfect for chucking on to give yourself a naturally flushed glow without too much thought and the neutral pink shade goes with pretty much any make up look.

Candy Floss Swatch
Overall, I can't sing the praises of this product enough, it combines two of my favourite qualities; cheapness & effectiveness, so I find it hard not to love.
If your in the market for a versatile, good quality blush then I seriously suggest you check out this little beauty.

Sleek Blush by 3 - Lace

I have been keen to try one of these Blush by 3 palettes since they were released a few weeks ago and when Superdrug's 3 for 2 offer came back on I decided it was time.  I'd recently seen a mention of the Lace version on a YouTube video saying that the middle colour was a dupe of Orgasm by Nars and since I had been considering trying a few darker and bolder blush colours and have always wondered about Orgasm I thought that Lace would be a good option.

My initial impression was that the colours were very dark and bold, and seemed to have great colour pay off.  Just from swatching them on my hands they were very vibrant.

The palette comprises of a bright orange, crochet, the shimmery peach Orgasm dupe, Guipure, and a cherry red, Chantilly.

Swatches on my arm.  The colours are quite a way away from the sort of blush I tend to use and I think they will take some getting used to.

The colour pay off is incredible, they are so highly pigmented that only the tiniest amout is required.  So far I am still a little scared of the colours as they are vwey bright and I'm a bit of a blusher newbie but hopefully in time with a bit of practice these will make a great addition to my collection.

I'm definitely tempted to try out another at some point in the future as the quality of the product is excellent for the price (£9.99).

Marks and Spencer - Lip and Cheek Tint

I picked up these two lip & cheek tints when I was in M&S the other day.  I've developed a mild addiction to cream blushers of late and these looked like rather pretty colours with an almost gel like consistancy, so for £4 each I couldn't pass them up.

The names make no sense, the darker is called coral when it's more of a berry and the coral one is called peach when really it's more coral but aside from the odd naming I am pretty pleased with these.  They give a soft glowy flush when applied and a dewy sort of finish.

Although they aren't particularly long lasting they do leave a nice subtle glow to the cheeks and seem ideal for every day wear.  Over all for £4 I can't fault them, I plan on wearing them on days when I want a lighter more natural look to my cheeks.

They are only avaliable in two colurs, a soft berry red type shade and a paler peachy coral tone.

Topshop Make Up

I've read various things about Topshop make up online so I thought I would try a couple of bits out for myself, I chose two items a cream blusher and a nail varnish.

The blusher is in a shade called Head Over Heels:

Unlike my dodgy photos it's actually a warm peachy coral shade, a lot more subtle than the neon photos I've somehow managed to take suggest.

I'm looking forward to trying it out as I am developing a bit of an obsession with cream blushes at the moment, hopefully this one will be a nice addition to my collection.

The nail varnish was one I'd seen a few swatches of online, Gypsy Night, it's a black jelly with various different colours and sized of glitter through it, it looks lovely in the bottle so I'm hoping it'll translate onto the nail just as well.
