Models Own - Polish for Tans - Beach Bag

I'm wearing beach bag, the orange neon from the Polish for Tans collection today.  These pictures are 3 coats and a top coat for shine, without top coat the polish dries semi-matte.

I'd call this more of a bright peach rather than a neon orange, I'd love to see these in proper bright sunlight to see if they seem more neon that way, regardless it's pastel sort of finish definitely makes it more peach than orange to me, it's a pretty summer colour either way.

The application of this polish wasn't great, it goes on quite streaky and doesn't leave an opaque finish hence the third coat, it's worth sticking with though as the finished effect and colour are nice.

Models Own - Polish for Tans - Sun Hat

Another Polish for Tans shade today, this time the bright Barbie pink of Sun Hat on shorter nails.

These pictures are two coats which gives a nice bright opaque coverage.  The finish of the Polish for Tans is slightly rubbery and matte without a top coat but I like to add a layer of quick dry top coat to give them the super shiny look.

I wouldn't really class this polish as a neon, I suppose at a push you could call it a pastel neon but to me it really just looks like a bright, sugar sweet Barbie pink sort of shade.  It is lovely for summer though so although it's not a typical neon I do think it's a good pick for this time of year and will probably look great with a tan.

Models Own - Polish for Tans - Flip Flop

Flip Flop is the green from the Polish for Tans collection, it's a very yellowy green not quite as bright as some neon greens I've seen but still a bold choice for summer.

The polish can be slightly streaky to apply, these pictures are 2 coats with top coat and in some places I think a third coat might have been beneficial to fully smooth out all of the imperfections.

The polish dries very fast which can also make application slightly tricky, the finish is a sort of semi-matte, rubberised effect.  Although it's an interesting finish I refer to top mine with some top coat for a super shiny look.

Models Own - Polish for Tans - Shades

Shades is a gorgeous neon coral pink, really bright and zingy and perfect for summer.  Although the polishes in this range are meant to look best with a tan I think they also go rather well with my very pale skin tone and still pop beautifully.

These pictures are two coats with top coat, the polish dries to a sort of rubbery, semi-matte finish but I prefer how it looks with an added coat of top coat to make it super shiny.

The polish can be a little streaky to apply but it dries super fast and can generally be smoothed out over two or three layers and top coat.

Models Own - Polish for Tans - Swatches

I've got some quick swatches of the new Models Own Polish for Tans collection today.

They're lovely bright pastel neons, the application isn't great, these swatches are 3 coats which is what it took to get them looking opaque and fairly even but once they're on they are lovely spring / summer colours.  I'm going to try them over a white base coat and see if that makes application any smoother with less coats.

In natural light they definitely look quite neon but in artificial indoor light they are less neon and more just like very bright pastels, like in the picture below.

Easy Paris - Neon Yellow

Another bright neon today, this time Easy Paris's yellow.

These pictures are two coats over a white base, the polish itself is too sheer to wear alone but over a white base it really pops.

It's hard to capture just how bright it is in real life, the picture below, before clean up - hence the mess, shows it about as true to life as my camera will allow.

Easy Paris - Neon Pink - Gel Look

I've posted about this polish before, when I wore it on it's own.  This time however was slightly different.  This time when I painted on the polish on it's own it was just a little too sheer to cover the staining on my nails, damn you blue and green HyperGels!!  So over the top of the original sheer manicure I added a coat of Cerise Shine, and then over the top of that I added another coat of the Neon Pink polish.

As well as hiding the staining it really gave the polish a thick gel like look on my nails, the HyperGel polishes are thicker and that combined with the number of coats I ended up with (I would guess around 9 with top coats) meant that my nails really did look like a gel manicure.

As for the colour, this flash shot shows it off best, it's such a super bright neon shade I love it.  As well as having a gel effect from the thickness of the polish the gelly like texture of the Easy Paris polish also meant that my nails had a lovely sheer jelly textured effect which I really liked.

I certainly wouldn't advise putting this many coats on normally but to fix a problem I think it worked quite well and I loved the look and colour I ended up with

W7 - Fluorescent Pink 2

I love my neon shades and I had to pick this one up when I saw it while I was away for the weekend recently, I'm pretty sure I don't have anything similar, this shade is not quite pink and not quite orange, it's a sort of neon coral colour, very pretty.

Try and ignore the shameful state of my cuticles and all the dry skin, winter is not being kind to me this year.  Application wise this polish is lovely to put on, it's smooth and slick and very easy to smooth out over the nail.  It's definitely a jelly like consistency though, these pictures are three coats and you can still see a hint of the staining on my nails, in fact, in real life it's actual a bit more obvious so this polish would probably benefit from a white base coat.

It was relatively fast drying and the finish is a nice squidgy, shiny look which you would expect from a jelly polish.  For a cheapy pick up from a market stall it's a pretty good buy this one!

Neon Pink

I took a notion for something bright on my nails today and ended up choosing a bright neon pink by Easy Paris.  You can actually see much better pictures of this lovely polish on my last post about it: Easy Paris Neon Pink.  The bright Spanish light seems to suit photographing it much more than December in Scotland!

I do still love it though, even if it refuse to pose well for photographs.  It's an almost jelly like consistency and loos really squishy up close.

Considering it's jelly like tendencies it's pretty much opaque in two coats although I've done 3 here to be extra sure.

Neon Nubbins

You may remember this gorgeous neon orange polish from my last holiday to Spain.  I was sorting through all my polishes the other night and came across this little beauty so I decided to try it out on short nails to see if I like it as much as I did when I wore it on longer nails.

The short answer is yes. :)  This is just two coats of polish with no base colour or white layer underneath and it's a proper vivid neon.  It's such a bright colour and really pops.

The polish dries to a slightly matte rubbery kind of effect but I like to stick some top coat over mine to leave them looking super shiny and a little squishy.

Despite being totally opaque this polish manges to have a sort of jelly like appearance to it which I love, it's definitely still a winner, even on short nails, especially since it cost me less than 1 euro!

Neon Nubbins

I finally got around to chopping down my nails so they are super short again.  I decided to take the opportunity of having them short to wear the last of my neon polishes I bought while I was in Spain.  I figured I could just about get away with it on short nails at work.

As with the pink, this neon isn't quite as in your face as the orange from the collection but it's still certianly bright enough and gives a proper pop of summer colour.

It applied really nicely (3 coats in these pictures) and dried to a slightly rubbery matte look which I then covered with a nice shiny topcoat to get the effect you see here.

Again the polish has a sort of squishy, jelly like look to it which I love.

Under indoor, artificial light the neon sort of disappears and leave a bright apple or grass green colour which is also very pretty.

I'm not sure how much wear I'll get out of this polish over winter but it'll definitely be back out with the warmer weather and sunshine next year.

Easy Paris Neon Pink

My third and final set of (painted while on) holiday nails today (told you I was very lazy about changing my polish while I was away!), this time I decided to try out another Easy Paris neon from my mini haul, told you there was a theme to my holiday nails. ;) I was hoping it might be of similar quality to the gorgeous orange I posted about yesterday as it was from the same brand.

The pink is bright, and would definitely be classed as a neon it's not quite as in your face and luminous neon as the orange though.

It's still a gorgeous shade and very bright.  A sort of Barbie on acid pink, definitely not subtle!

It's a very bold colour but it went surprisingly well with everything I wore and looked really gorgeous in the sun, it would be a perfect colour for summer toes, I think.

In slightly duller situations you can see that it does have a neon look to it, just not quite as bright as the orange from the same range.

In some lights it looks really squishy and juicy like a jelly polish and seems to have an almost matte look to it (like the photo on the beach, below), which is weird because it had plenty of shiny top coat on and look really shiny most of the time

And last but not least a final holiday / beach shot before my photos go back to being taken indoors under artificial light in grey Glasgow again.

I have one more neon from my haul to try out, a green, I'm just not sure it's a Glasgow or work appropriate shade...

Easy Paris NEON Orange

Another polish from my recent Spain haul today, and this time it's back to neon, as I said in my previous post about holiday nails I ended up with a bit of a neon theme going while I was away.  Today's is a gorgeous, in your face orange, a proper neon polish!

I love how this one looked SO much, in the right light it really seemed to glow like it was lit up from inside and it was super, super bright.

Initially I wasn't too sure about trying the Easy Paris neon polishes I bought while I was away as I almost always apply neon shades over a white base to make them properly pop, I didn't have a decent base with me but I decided to give the orange a go anyway, just to see how it turned out.

I ended up using 3 coats of polish on and the colour was totally opaque which is great for a neon, especially one so bright.  In certain lights, when it wasn't glowing like a glow stick, the polish seemed to take on a juicy, jelly sort of appearance.

In bright, direct sunlight it's almost like a cream!

It really is a chameleon of a colour, but my favourite has to be when it really glows and looks super neon bright.  A couple of times when I looked at my nails I thought I'd painted around my cuticles too but it was actually just the glowy reflection of the colour making it look that way.

I don't have a huge amount more to say about this polish; it was super cheap, it applies well and I adore the colour of it, I can't wait to wear it again.

A couple of final sandy beach shots, since I was on holiday. ;)
