Glitter Stamps

I decided to jazz up the very neutral Kiko polish from the other day by adding Nubar Sky Sparkle as an accent nail and Barry M Guava for some stamping.  The plate I used is Gals GA4.

Aside from the very annoying tip wear / shrinkage on Sky Sparkle I'm pretty pleased with how this turned out.  The glittery accent nail adds a bit more interest to the geometric stamping image.

Guava stamped beautifully and turned out a lot bolder and brighter than I was expecting over the creamy nude base.

I used the left hand image from GA4 plate.

Laura Paige - Red Hot & The ALL NEW British Nail Bloggers Round Up.

I LOVE this nail polish, it's the perfect red jelly.  I picked it up randomly in a little independant chemist a while back, it's a brand I had never heard of, Laura Paige, but the colour appealed to me and at just £1.99 (with a free eyeliner!) I couldn't resist. 

 

 

These pictures are two coats, a coat of Nubar Black Dots and then a final coat of Red Hot over the top, I love the effect, like little ladybirds or strawberries on my nails.  Although it's technically a jelly sandwich I don't think it really looks like one as Red Hot is so sheer you can barely tell there is a coat of red over the glitter.

 

 

The finish is a perfect jelly, so sheer and juicy and squidy looking, I love how this polish looks on my nails, I just with it came in other colours (so far none of the other LP polishes I have seen have looked a similar texture at all).

 

 

I've included this bottle shot, pre clean up with horribly dry hands, so you can see what the bottle looks like and keep an eye out in your local chemists in case you can spot and LP bargains too.

Then I added a couple of coats of my new Nubar Dots polish over the top, I think the black worked much better in this case than the white:

Another gorgeous Nubar varnish, I get most of my Nubar polishes from Nubar Nailz who have a decent selection at pretty good prices, their customer service and super fast delivery are great.

Nubbins!

I had a small incident while attempting to rescue a bottle of whisky from the top shelf of my larder the other day, so now I have tiny stumpy nubbins:



They're wearing the Sky Sparkle they had on when they broke and a layer of Barry M Effects.

Sky Sparkles

Another gorgeous colour with lots of glittery sparkle, unfortunately this one doesn't go on quite so easily. The photos here are after 7 coats in two separate sittings:



The glitter is very sparse and sheer and to get a decent coverage it takes A LOT of coats. In future I think I'd use a turquoise base colour to save time and polish.

Nubar Reclaim

I've had this one on my wish list for a while now and I am very excited to finally have it. It's a gorgeous green holo. What I love about it is that even in regular lighting it's a really nice colour and finish:



A lot of holo polishes can be a bit grubby and dull looking in regular light and really need strong artificial light or direct sunlight to bring them out, Reclaim holds it's own ever without but it is super gorgeous when there is some.

This being Scotland these photos are in bright indoor lighting as we don't get sun here at this time of year:

Nubar Sparkles Collection.

I recently ordered 4 more Nubar Sparkle Collection polishes. I already have Hyacinth Sparkle at home which I love so I decided to try some of the other ones as they looked like pretty colours and I adore glitter polish.

I ordered Night, Sky, Petunia and Violet Sparkles and I wasn't disappointed. I was however stuck for which one to try first, so I put them all on:







I love this collection, the glitter is really fine and goes on beautifully. Night Sparkle is slightly disappointing as it is more of a navy polish with blue glitter through it than an actual navy glitter but it is still really pretty on. Sky is going to take 4 or so coats to become opaque but I think that's worth it for the colour.

So far I've tried out full manicures with two of the polishes.

Here are about a billion (well, 6) photos of the Petunia Sparkles on, I adore it, it's almost impossible to show in photos how gorgeous and sparkly and foil like it is on the nail in person.

I think the Sparkles Collection by Nubar has to be one of my favourites, they are such pretty polishes.

Nails Inc Denim & 2010

More free polish, denim this time, again from the Nails Inc / Coke promo at Boots. This is by far my favourite colour so far from the 4, it's almost verging on a teal. Applied pretty well for Nails Inc which I am not too fond of and was almost a one coater.

My current flakie obsession meant that I had to pop a couple of coats of Nubar 2010 over the top to bling it up a bit:

I decided to copy a look I'd seen online today, which was layering several of my flakies over a black base, here's what I used:

So Laque by Bourjois, number 17, Noie de Chine (2 coats)
Nfu Oh, number 50 (1 coat)
Nubar, 2010 (1 coat)
Nfu Oh, number 39 (1 coat)
Another coat of Nubar 2010
Sally Hansen Insta Dri top coat



And here are the results:







The pictures aren't great but they give an idea of the gorgeous foily jewel look created by layering the flakies. I think next time I might just go for two coats of flakies as the lower ones barely show in the finished look and it will take an age to dry this many layers properly.
