The Body Shop - Beautifying Oil

The Body Shop online recently had a flash sale on which gave you 40% off and free delivery on orders over £5, so I decided to take the opportunity to try out a couple of the beautifying oils that they do.  Here's what The Body Shop have to say about them:

I chose two, coconut and chocomania, mostly based on the fact I knew they smelled amazing after trying them in store.

 

 

They both smell wonderful, coconut reminds me of holidays and sun tan lotion and it'll definitely be coming in my bag with me when I go away later in the month.  Chocomania smells, as you may have guessed, like chocolate, it really does leave your skin smelling good enough to eat!

I mainly plan to use mine as a moisturiser for my body but I also like the idea of trying it on my hair and as a shaving oil, it looks like there are loads of different ways to use it so I'm looking forward to giving some of them a go.

Body Shop Home Fragrance Oils

 

Something a little different today but still Christmas themed, sort of!  I recently tried out a couple of these fragrance oils from The Body Shop and I have been so impressed with them that I had to do a post.  Initially I picked up the Ginger Sparkle version as I am a sucker for anything ginger scented and I love the body range that they have in this scent. 

 

It's a gorgeous warm, sugary ginger scent and ideal for Christmas, I was so impressed I decided to try out another of the Christmas fragrance oils, Cranberry Joy, this one is a zingy fresh fruit scent and also lovely, although not half as strong as the Ginger Sparkle.

 

 

As well as the Christmas releases I also picked up three of the regular fragrances (I had a 50% off voucher so I decided to stock up); Exotic, Pomegranate & Raspberry and Vanilla & Tonka Bean.  The oils are £4 each and available both in store and online.

 

Exotic is by far my favourite, it's fresh fruity and gorgeous, it's also pretty powerful so I have been using just a few drops to scent the whole room.  Vanilla & Tonka Bean is lovely too, a warm, comforting fragrance that is lovely for winter, it's not as strong as the Exotic scent though and a lot more subtle.  Pomegranate & Raspberry is a slightly sweeter version of Cranberry Joy, very fruity but not hugely powerful, of all the oils I have tried so far this one is the least strong.

 

I have been using all these oils on my radiators, adding a few drops to the bar at the top and allowing the heat to send the fragrance around the room, it works wonderfully well and means that you literally don't need anything except the oils and a  radiator, no need for burners or anything else.

 

Overall, I love these oils, they are such a simple way to scent a room and for £4 they are pretty good value too.  If I was to recommend a couple to buy that I like best I would go with the Christmas Ginger Sparkle and the Exotic, they are both gorgeous fragrances and strong enough to scent the room with a few drops.

 

Body Shop Bargains

I was recently alerted to the clearance section of the Body Shop website and was delighted to find they had a whole selection of last years Christmas scents still available and massively reduced prices.  I already own the Candied Ginger body butter and I absolutely love the scent so when I discovered there was also a body scrub and shower gel I knew I had to place an order.

I don't find the Candied Ginger scent particularly seasonal, it's lovely and fresh and really does smell just like fresh root ginger - not synthetic at all, it's slightly sweeter than ginger on it's own which is obviously the candied element coming through but the main it you get it just lovely fresh gingery goodness which is ideal if like me you love the scent of ginger when you use it in cooking.  Although it was released as one of their Christmas scents it's a fragrance I am happy to wear all year round.

The added bonus is the price, items start from as little as £2!  So, if you love ginger and fancy treating yourself I highly recommend popping over and grabbing yourself a bargain.

I then undid all my great bargain hunting work by also buying the new Chocomania body butter at full price which pushed the order cost up just a little, it smells divine though, really like proper chocolate and again not at all synthetic.

I can't wait to try it out, it's arrived at just the right time as my skin is rather dry after my holiday in Spain and I need something to keep my, very minimal, rather rubbish, tan in good order for the next little while.

The Body Shop - Hemp Moisture High Balm

I discovered this product recently when I saw it in a little basket on offer beside the till.  It was reduced to £1 so I thought I would pick it up and see what it was like.  I had a vague recollection of reading good things about using it as a cuticle moisturiser and, truth be told, I was hoping it might have a bit of a 'hempy' smell about it.  It doesn't, but it is fantastic as a cuticle moisturiser. 

In reality it smells of very little and once it warms in your hands it creates a thick, oily emulsion which is lovely to rub into your nails and cuticles.  It's definitely no good as a hand cream though, it leaves a greasy residue so it's a product suited to being used last thing at night, before bed, or when you aren't planning on doing much until you've had the chance to wash your hands.

Having used it for a couple of weeks I thought I would pop back in and grab another tin while it was reduced.  When I went back to the store I asked the sales assistant who told me that they had sold out and more annoyingly it had been reduced because it was discontinued.

I decided to try another branch on the off chance they still had some and I got lucky...

The sales assistant there said that it would keep unopened for up to 3 years so at the bargain price of £1 a tin I couldn't help but stock up, another 5 tins came home with me (so overall that's 6 tins for the price of 1!).  The balm is great rubbed into cuticles to keep them neat and moisturised and it's also apparently really good on dry skin and eczema.

So, if you happen to be in The Body Shop any time soon and you're looking for a budget buy that will sort out dry cuticles then definitely pick one up, unfortunately one the balm in the sale is gone it won't be coming back so grab it while you can!
