Kiko Rock-Top 605 & Models Own Indian Ocean

I have no idea what sort of look I was going for when I started out doing this manicure but I am pleased with the results anyway, win!  It's a rather multi-layered affair.

I started out with a base of Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine in Blueberry and then added a coat of Models Own Indian Ocean over the top of that but I didn't feel like it was quite finished, so I decided to drag out Kiko's version of a shatter polish (another polish which has been languishing in my untried drawer for months) and stick that over the top too.

Still not satisfied I added a final coat of Indian Ocean over the top of the shatter to pull it all together and that gave me the final result.  A bluey purple shatter duochrome layered affair, modelled here on my ghostly white flash hand...

I love how the Indian Ocean has given the whole nail, including the shatter polish a duochrome look, it reminds me a little bit of Fantasy Fire in some lights which is a GOOD thing.

Here's a quick round up picture of the polishes involved, complete with smudgy fingerprints:

I have an extra special guest post scheduled for tomorrow so make sure to check back and catch that in the morning.

Patchwork Shatter Manicure

I saw this manicure done on another blog a while back (which I can't remember the name of now, if you know please leave a comment and I will add a credit to the original one!).  It uses a selection of crackle polishes to create a sort of patchwork effect on the nails.

To create my version I used Kiko 372 as a base and then added Kiko Rock-top Shatter polish in 600, 605, 608 and 611 over the top to create the patchwork effect.

I'm pretty pleased with how this turned out, although it was definitely the sort of manicure which looks a little better from a distance rather than up close, like in these photos, where you can see all the joins and overlaps.

It's something I will probably try again in future because I do think it has potential to be a really cute manicure.  What do you think, is it something you would try?

Kiko 614 Silver Rock-top / Shatter Polish

Today I am showing you Kiko 614 which is one of their Rock-top (shatter) polishes.  For some reason this colour doesn't feature on the Kiko UK site.  I bought this polish in Spain so it could be that it's not available everywhere or it might just be a mistake on the UK site.
Anyway, I applied the polish over last week's double stamped manicure as I couldn't stand to take it off while it still looked ok and I figured covering it would make it easier to change completely.  I was right, mostly because I'm not too keen on how it turned out so I'm quite happy to take it off later.
