Models Own - Velvet Goth - Amethyst

Today I have the other polish I chose from Models Own's Velvet Goth collection, Amethyst.  These pictures are all two coats with a top coat.

Yet again I wasn't that impressed with the matte finish of this polish, I like it MUCH better with a nice shiny finish thanks to some top coat.  It really picks out the glitter and shows off the different shade of the polish.

With topcoat the glitter is super sparkly and really catches the light, I'm obviously just not a matte nails sort of girl (although I make an exception for Kiko Sugar Mats)

I'm tempted to go back and pick up another couple of these polishes, although I wasn'y overly keen when I saw the matte swatches I love these two so much with topcoat that it might be worth giving the rest of the collection a second chance...

Models Own - Velvet Goth - Absinthe

I couldn't wait to try out my Velvet Goth polishes from Models Own so I started off with Absinthe, the green glitter.  These pictures are all two coats.

Now, firstly, I have to point out the obvious.  These nails aren't the matte glitter effect promised by Models Own.  In fact when I applied the polish and allowed it to dry I wasn't very impressed at all, I didn't like the dull matte finish to the glitter so I decided to top coat them.

And I'm REALLY glad I did, I love this polish with a top coat, it's super sparkly and glam.

The goth element isn't lost with a top coat, you just get a more sparkly sort of gothic look. ;)

I can't see me ever wearing this polish matte, it just didn't appeal to me that way but with it's full sparkle on show it'll definitely get another outing soon.

Models Own - Velvet Goth - Absinthe & Amethyst

I was undecided about buying any of this new range from Models Own but while Boots had it's buy one get one half price deal on I caved in and picked up a couple, Absinthe the green and Amethyst the purple.

First off I have to say I LOVE the bottles, the velvet cap is very cute and something a bit different from other polish bottles.

The colours are pretty, deep jewel shades which dry to a matte finish.  I'm not a huge fan of matte polishes but I figured the glitter in these might change my mind.

And failing that I can always top coat them for a super shiny glittery finish instead.  I'm looking forward to trying these out, keep yours eyes peeled for swatches over the next few posts.
