Frostbitten Katy Perry

Despite promising myself I was going to buy NO nail polish until March (a trip to Spain to pillage Kiko & Sephora is planned) I couldn't resist the new OPI Katy Perry Collection. There are 4 colours and the black shatter top coat, I wasn't too keen on the plummy red and I already have the much cheaper but exactly the same Barry M crackle top coat so I left those two and grabbed the three I was keen on:

Today's nails are China Glaze Frostbite with the blue glitter over the top, they're even more vivid and in your face in real life and I love them! Although the macro shots of my cuticles do suggest it's about time to give myself a proper manicure!

This blurred shot shows the glitter up a little better:

Accessorise - Pink Spice

Today I am wearing Pink Spice by Accessorise. They've started doing a make up range which is available in larger stores and from some branches of Superdrug.

I like this polish, not least because it is an exact dupe of MAC's LE Bad Fairy from the Disney Villains collection. I just wish I hadn't wasted so long finding Bad Fairy when I had this all along.

This is 3 coats under Insta Dri:

Flakies fix the Fail!

I decided I couldn't live with my unsatisfactory manicure for going out tonight, so I stuck a coat of Nfu Oh 52 over the top, flakies make everything better:

Nail Fail

I'm not particularly keen on this look, the accent nail is a mess (Kiko Turquoise Sparkle), but I do like the colour and application of the very cheap (£2) Primark UV nail polish I have on the other fingers, it applied really nicely and is a deep blue with faint lighter blue glitter through it:

Nails Inc Denim & 2010

More free polish, denim this time, again from the Nails Inc / Coke promo at Boots. This is by far my favourite colour so far from the 4, it's almost verging on a teal. Applied pretty well for Nails Inc which I am not too fond of and was almost a one coater.

My current flakie obsession meant that I had to pop a couple of coats of Nubar 2010 over the top to bling it up a bit:

Caramel Flakies

Another Diet Coke promo polish here, this time Caramel with Nfu Oh 50 over the top:

Nails Inc Polish FREE with Diet Coke

Diet Coke, Boots & Nails Inc have teamed up to offer a free nail varnish for every 2 bottle of diet coke you buy this month:

Since Diet Coke costs £1.18 in Boots it means you can have a Nails Inc polish for the bargain price of £2.36 (they're normally £11), obviously the sensible thing to do is buy 8 bottles of Coke and score yourself 4 bottles of varnish for the cost of less than one at retail price, which is what I did.

I'm not a massive fan of Nails Inc polish but these seem a little better than previous ones I've tried and the colours are quite nice, and for such a bargainous price I couldn't say no.

Here is 'plum' badly applied:

Flakie Overload

I decided to copy a look I'd seen online today, which was layering several of my flakies over a black base, here's what I used:

So Laque by Bourjois, number 17, Noie de Chine (2 coats)
Nfu Oh, number 50 (1 coat)
Nubar, 2010 (1 coat)
Nfu Oh, number 39 (1 coat)
Another coat of Nubar 2010
Sally Hansen Insta Dri top coat

And here are the results:

The pictures aren't great but they give an idea of the gorgeous foily jewel look created by layering the flakies. I think next time I might just go for two coats of flakies as the lower ones barely show in the finished look and it will take an age to dry this many layers properly.
